I heart California!!

We've been in La Jolla, CA since Sunday. I do not want to leave. Plain & simple. I've been thinking of a way to weasle my way out of work a few more days and stay longer. I love it here! It's so laid back, it's a constant 75 degrees & sunny (no humidity) and the food is exceptional. We went to Mission Bay Beach yesterday and hung out. I didn't wear sunscreen because it felt like heaven and my face today speaks for itself. :)- It's burnt. We then at sushi at a local place and then ate frozen yogert at Froglander's. Today we're going back to the beach - I think Coronado Beach (near the famous Coronado Resort) and then out to eat somewhere fancy smancy tonight. The foodie that I am wants some good seafood. I don't want to leave. I can't say that enough. It's the cutest beach town ever - lush tropical plants, flowers, and although the water is freezing it's a beautiful blue and green. I ran around the neighborhood of where Dan, Keenum & I are staying (Bird Rock) and was just amazed at the beauty of it all. I'm more impressed with the weather. I do not want to return to the muggy Magic City. Oh well....my trip has been great. I guess I have been gone long enough. **pouty face** I can't even think of my favorite part of the trip - so many things happened, I saw so many different parts of the country and made so many great memories. Well, I guess I will see most of you Wednesday (at work) and then throughout the week. See you soon!

G'bye Vegas!

Leaving Las Vegas & The MTV VMAs

It's Saturday and about 9:30am (Pacific time) and we're loading up and getting ready to "pull out." Last night was a lot of fun. Amber, Jason & I ate at the World Carnival buffet at the Rio resort. Talk about a spread! Everything and anything you can think of - they had it. My favorite part, of course, was the desserts. We then ventured over to the Palms Resort & Casino. This was the place to be last night! The MTV VMAs are being held there tomorrow night and it was a mad house. You could tell who the celebs were - even if we couldn't - they had an entourage and lovely ladies following them. We saw the are where they will interview the winners after they accept their awards. (Sidenote for baby Ber: Confirmed - Brit is performing - it was everywhere) Every 20-something in Vegas was there wearing their hip clothes, high heels and tight dresses. We couldn't get in anywhere due to private parties for the VMAs. Amber & I had our eyes peeled for celebs. We hung out near the Hart & Huntington tatoo shop for a bit, Ghost Bar (private elevator to get up and there was a line you wouldn't believe), Playboy Club (guest list), and just peopled watched around the casinos. I have never felt so unwanted as I have felt in Vegas. You have to be special and on a guest list and dressed a certain way to get in anywhere. We left Palms for Old Town Vegas and stayed for an hour or so then came on home. We were so tired from walking in the 105 degree heat all day up and down the strip. I may be a 15 year old girl at heart who still loves MTV, but if it were up to Amber & I, we'd have stayed at the Palms all night and soaked in all the celebs.

Oh and it's confirmed. I do love Las Vegas. A girl can get into so much trouble here and have so much fun. I will come back soon - that is for sure!

Pushing Amber into the fountain at Ceaser's Palace

Vegas - Tangerine @ Treasure Island

Vegas Night One

Per Shana's request... the reason we did not go to the Grand Canyon was because the guys got eager to head to Vegas and decided to skip out on night 2 in Zion. We took too much time hiking up some mountain that none of us expected to take 3 hours and then when we got down to it, driving 350 miles out of the way to just see the Grand Canyon for a moment was outruled. Amber was devastated. Tears were shed, voices were raised, and friendships were even tarnished a bit, but night one in Vegas turned out to be ok.

We first ventured out to the Wynn last night to get into Tryst. Uh...yeah, didn't happen. Something about having to be on a silly guest list. We then hiked up the strip to Treasure Island and hung out at Tangerine the rest of the night. We were all so tired from hiking earlier that day that we retired after midnight.

Today we visited most of the casinos and hotels. I must mention...I won $5 in the slots! So far, to date, I'm the only winner and Keenum is the biggest loser with having lost $7. Also, Amber tried to get tickets to see Celine. Sold Out. Her face was the saddest I'd ever seen after hearing that news.

Tonight we are going to eat at some snazzy buffet, try to weasle our way into The Ghost Bar, go to Old Town Vegas, get tatoos, and then to some strip club. I'm most anxious for the latter.

Oh yeah, it's hotter than poop out here. Have I mentioned that?

Zion Again

Checking in with mom ... for the 3rd time that day

Wildflowers in Zion

Jason & Dan in Zion

Reno 911 ... aka Keenum's mustache

Who Does This??

Hiking in Zion

Zion National Park & Etc....

Ok, so I hope those few pictures will suffice for now. It takes FOREVER and a day to upload pictures. We are 20 minutes outside of Vegas and we were lucky to have internet on our way in. After a minor setback and a few tears.... we decided to skip out on the Grand Canyon (don't ask) and head to Vegas for two nights instead of one.

Zion was amazingly beautiful! It wasn't the type of national park I was expecting. It was a desert - no forests or anything. There were these beautiful yellow sunflowers (Amber & I think they are black-eyed Susans) everywhere. (Pictures to come) We did a 2.5 (5 mile roudtrip) hike up to Angel's Landing and I'll just say in 100 degree weather, Keenum & I decided to turn around after mile 1. Amber, Jason & Dan trucked on and eventually Dan made it almost to the top. It's a beatufil place and the weather was perfect.

The RV has been comfortable, more so than I thought. I sleep like a baby and the dogs and cat have been a pleasure. They've been quite entertaining.

Well, after Vegas we will go on to San Diego for the last part of our trip. It's sad that it's almost over. If cameras make it out with us tonight and tomorrow night I'm sure there will be many stories and fun pictures.

Oh and sidenote....Jason & Keenum decided to grow mustaches for the trip. Amber is sick of it by now and thinks it's disgusting. Honestly, Keenum's looks like a scum stache. Jason thinks his is cool and it actually got him out of a speeding ticket today - or so he says.

Oh and one more thing... while leaving Zion today we had a neighbor near us who was just walking around outside his RV w/o pants on. Yes, no pants. Just a shirt. It was so ridiculous that we had to get some pictures. I cry everytime I see them. We'll post that picture later for your viewing pleasure.

Paul - I have not thought about work once.

MM & Ber - thanks for the celeb updates. If we see Brit & Cris Angel in Vegas I'll send them your hello.

John - Belvedere is having a grand time!

Everyone else ...thanks for your comments. They've made me laugh so hard!

NOW....WHAT HAPPENS IN VEGAS STAYS IN VEGAS...MWUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

White water Kayaking, Thunderstorms and Dime-sized Hail

I want to apologize to all three of you who are reading this ... I hope to have some pictures up by tomorrow. Our internet connection is not the best right now.

We had day two in Durango today. Amber & I went on a nice little bike ride around the camp ground and then we were serenaded by Jason on his guitar throughout the morning. We then decided to go whitewater kayaking down the Animas River for a couple of hours and it was a great time! All five of us had inflatable kayaks. The weather turned sour on us 20 minutes into the ride and then it stormed on us the rest of the time. It even hailed on us for a few minutes.... talk about hurt! Dan & Jason even had bruising from it. It was a very memorable time and very cold too! I seemed to have caught a slight cold in the midst of it all.

It is now 7:30pm and the temperature seems to be a cool 63 degrees ... we are pulling out tomorrow morning and heading down to Utah to visit the lovely Zion National Park. We will be there for two nights and then journey onto Vegas.

Greetings from Durango, CO!

We left at 4pm CST yesterday and finally arrived to Durango, CO after driving nonstop for 28 hours straight. We did stop several times to get gas, eat, and see the largest cross in the Western Hemisphere in TX (ok, not really, but we did see it). Jason took the first shift at the wheel, then somewhere around midnight Dan took over (Amber & I fell asleep at this point). Dan was determined to make the drive straight to Amarillo, TX. Once in Amarillo (9:30am)Keenum then took the wheel to only make it around 6 hours at the wheel. Jason has some precious film of Keenum getting very aggravated at the wheel.

It's already been quite a journey. I have had altogether, maybe, five to six hours of sleep. It was a rocky night sleeping in this RV. None of us really slept a wink. Dan though, is the real trooper. He has not slept yet. 38 hours and going without sleep. He's about to pass out any minute now...

Durango is beautiful! It's one of those towns in CO where the air smells like pure heaven - pine trees, fresh air, just heaven. I want to bottle it. Plus, it was 65 degrees at 7pm and now it's in the 50s and no humidity, which is heaven to me.

As for the surprise for the trip... my dad made us shirts. :) The picture below is of us before we left on this lovely road trip. We would have posted earlier but our internet connection has been spotty while on the road.

I will note for baby Ber that our music selection has mostly been the greatest hits from Alabama ("18 Wheeler"), 50 Cent, Ben Harper, The Guess Who (who I had never heard of until this trip), and for a brief moment on the trip Jason, Keenum, Dan & I joined in on some a ccapla traditional hymns while Amber slept.

We've been through six states already. We'll be in Durango tonight and tomorrow night before heading out to Utah to Zion N'al Park.
